I have been extremely busy taking care of all the preparations for my son’s First Communion and Confirmation, and my daughter’s First Communion. They both fell in the same week, but on different days. I had to arrange for pictures of both my kids all dressed up. I was lucky that my mother-in-law is a photographer. But, she lives in Southport, a few hours drive from home. It was worth the drive for my husband to take the kids down to her. I couldn’t go. My neck was hurting me.
My son had his First Communion and Confirmation together. It was crazy. There were at least 100 kids getting their Confirmation that night. The church was crowded. It also got really hot in there. The whole ceremony/mass lasted about an hour and a half. I was so proud of my son.
My daughter’s First Communion didn’t last near as long. It was done during a regular mass, and was only about an hour. She looked so beautiful. And my son was very handsome. My mom picked out the dress, and my husband bought our son’s clothes. It was a lot easier to get my son taken care of. I had to take my daughter to try on dresses. She really enjoyed that. I noticed immediately how different styles require a different size. My daughter has no waist.
My mom ordered the dress based on what I told her after trying on different styles and sizes. We crossed out fingers and hoped we ended up with the right size for the style of dress my mom ordered. We did. My mom also ordered the veil, shoes, and tights to go with the dress. The first time I saw my daughter in everything, I almost cried. She was so beautiful.
Now that the craziness of both First Communions and the Confirmation are over with, I have the summer craziness to look forward to. I will be hunting out different activities for the kids. My son will be limited on what he can do, because he is having ear surgery. My daughter wants to do the YMCA summer camp, art classes, and swimming lessons. She will be busy this summer.
I am working on taking care of myself. I have put on a little of the weight that I lost. I need to get back to the basics with my eating. I need to concentrate on healthy foods, and exercise more. I’m hoping the exercising will be easier now that the weather is nicer. Losing all the weight I did was difficult. I really don’t want to end up with it all back on. I’ll take it a day at a time, a meal at a time. Hopefully, I’ll be able to drop the pounds I put on, and keep them off.
