Weight Lifting at Home For The Busy Mom

lifting weights at home

I wrote a post about exercises to do at home, but I didn’t include anything about how weight lifting at home has helped me.  I use a weight machine and hand weights at home.  The machine is a PM-3200, I bought it at Dick’s Sporting Goods, when it was on sale, for $300.  I also have a five pound set of hand weights that I bought at Wal-Mart for $5.75.

I love lifting weights at home.  Going to the gym was hard to fit into my schedule.  With my own home gym, I can workout whenever I want, and I don’t have to wait for anyone to finish with it.  I also like doing my Dance Workout Wii game using my hand weights.

My PM-3200 came with an exercise chart.  I use that to design my workouts to target specific areas of my body.  There are 15 different exercises I can do with this one machine.  I can even work my two problem areas, my abs and inner thighs.  I like to do a 30 minute cardio workout, and then use my machine.

If you don’t have weights at home to use, you can make your own.  You can use items in your pantry as hand weights.  A large can, or a bag of sugar.  You can the use sugar to get healthy.  You can also use another person.

Do you remember doing an exercise at school that involved another person?  You would both lay on the ground, putting your feet up against the other’s, and pushing against one another.  It’s a basic form of resistance training.  It’s also a fun exercise to do with your child.  You can purchase resistance workout tubes for less than $10.

Whether you are weight lifting at home using a machine, hand weights, or a bag of sugar, your body will think you for it.  Not only does lifting weights help you lose weight and tone muscle, it can also help lower cholesterol.  Exercise, no matter what form, helps increase your good cholesterol and lower bad cholesterol.

What is your exercise routine?  Do you workout at home, or do you go to a gym?
