I was sent coupons for free ice cream to review. The coupons I received were for Bryers, Good Humor, Klondike, Popsicle, and Magnum. Reviewing ice cream was difficult, because I am careful about the fat, calories and sugar I consume. I went shopping with my coupons and found Bryers Butter Pecan No Sugar Added ice cream, sugar free Popsicles, Klondike Krunch, Strawberry Shortcake Good Humor bars, and Magnum Double Caramel. I could eat the first two without feeling guilty, but I had to increase my exercising on the days I ate the others.
My favorite was the Magnum Double Caramel. Yes, I know it was not something that I should have eaten. I’m at a point in my weight loss that I can indulge, within reason. If I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables during the day, and haven’t consumed that many fat or sugar grams, I can indulge with a decadent dessert. I also have to exercise more on those days. The Magnum Double Caramel is worth the extra exercises I had to do.
I liked all of the ice creams I purchased with the free coupons. I need to check out the other grocery stores in my area for the Fat Free Bryers ice cream. I noticed that they have them on their website, but the store I usually go to doesn’t carry them. They only have the reduced fat and no sugar added ones. I purchased the no sugar added Butter Pecan, and loved it. I didn’t miss the sugar. I loved that there were big pieces of pecan in the ice cream.
For my kids, I prefer the sugar free Popsicle line. My daughter loves them. It’s been so hot lately, that they are great to cool down with. I also like the fact that I can let her have a couple of them, and don’t have to worry about her consuming sugar.
Next time you are at the store with your kids, and they are begging for ice cream, get them some. There are so many healthy cold treats available now. You don’t have to feel guilty about saying yes.
Disclosure: I received coupons for free product to do this review. My opinions are my own.
