Facebook Invades Privacy

I was talking with my mother-in-law, and she had some disturbing news.  She was doing a search on a website, and up popped a Facebook icon with a picture of my husband’s Facebook pic.  It said that her friend Paul used this site.

I’ve never had that happen to me, and I didn’t know what to say.  I was shocked.  I don’t know if it is a site that my husband has been on.  I also don’t understand why they would be pulling info from my husband’s Facebook account.

I know that, as a blogger, I authorize different websites to access my account.  I don’t think my husband does.  I don’t see any reason why he would.  It’s a little scary that websites can get access to your account without your permission.  Has this happened to you?  It feels like an invasion of privacy to me.

My husband has noticed that Klout has been showing up on his Facebook account as something he uses. He doesn’t use Klout.  He has no idea what it is.  He thought that I was up on his account and did something with Klout.  Nope.  I didn’t.  I am on Klout with my account, though.

What do you think?  Is it no longer safe to be on Facebook?  I know a lot of us depend on Facebook for promoting our blogs.  Is it worth it?
